Paintings 2012

February 6, 2013

Some work I finished at the end of last year for my show at St George’s, Bristol – not yet on my website as I’m waiting to get them photographed by a pro ! (Later: fed up waiting for the pro so added them to website as they are) Some ideas taken from sketches in previous post, from the pool at the top of our local mountain, for instance – Keeper’s Pool – which is a leftover from the mining industry. And the marks and pathways from Black Mountains and Beacons.

New Year, New Ideas or Old Recycled Ones

February 6, 2013

Here is some recent work from my sketchbooks some which I have used to develop into paintings – see later images.  They are places around where I live in South Wales.  I’m still interested in pathways and the marks left on the landscape from nature, animals  or people.  I often write notes on the sketches about colour or tone, and other things like sounds or the shape of a shadow.  I want to develop the writing side of my work, but not sure yet what form it will take. I am showing some work locally at the end of May, so have a deadline to come up with some experimental new ideas.
